My name is Shane Walden and I am a 17 year old senior in High School. First off, I want to say that I am impressed with how you handled your unfortunate situation. It was very mature and responsible to quickly find a couple worthy enough to raise your child. However, I think it was extremely unwise to have sex simply because you were "bored". That was obviously not the right decision to cure your boredom and I think you have learned that by now. If you felt that you absolutely had to sex, which you didn't, then you should have made sure to have protection so there is 0 risk.
As for me, I would have handled the situation a bit differently. First, I would have encouraged my partner to get an abortion like you almost did. If she chose not to then I would have decided to raise the child with her because I have a supporting family that would support me because I would not want my child to grow up and be raised by another family and not be able to see them ever. I would constantly be thinking about him/her and I simply don't like the though of it. I think your family would have definitely supported you if you chose to keep your child as well, but you found that it was best to give it to someone that wants it more, which is also very responsible. Overall, although I would have chose a different route, I think you made a fine choice that works out great for you.
